This beautiful green SPS (small polyped stony) hard coral from Bali has a very fuzzy appearence when its polyps are fully extended. It produces a large amount of mucous when disturbed by neighboring corals or by touch. It is a very fast growing species under the right conditions.
This Green Slimer Acropora requires moderate water currents and intense lighting provided by metal halides to maintain its color. It is also important that proper calcium and alkalinity levels are maintained. Place the Bali Green Slimer in the top half of the aquarium on a piece of live rock where it is fully exposed to direct lighting and where currents will be able to supply it with necessary nutrients and trace elements. Mounted to your rock in an existing crevice or by drilling a 3/8" hole using a masonary bit then using some reef putty to secure it. This will allow it to continue encrusting your rock and in time you will have a much larger specimen.
The Bali Green Slimer receives most of it's nutrition via photosynthsis but will benefit from feeding. Supplement its diet with the addition of phytoplankton, marine snow, and other food designed for filter feeders.
