The Favites brain coral is a large polyp stony (LPS) and a member of the family Faviidae. It is also referred to commonly as the Pineapple, Moon, Honeycomb, Closed Brain, Worm, or Star or coral. It will make a beautiful addition to any reef aquarium and is quite easy to maintain. This is an excellent hard coral for the beginner reef aquarist!
Care should be taken in placement as they can have quite long sweeper tentacles that can sting neighboring corals. At night it will open it's sweeper tentacles to feed. It will take meaty foods including mysids and diced fish.
